IT can sometimes take a devastating event for us to see the power of our community.
This week a dozen horses lost their lives after a tragic fire at Elmwood Equestrian Centre in Burnham.
Passers-by alerted the fire service and attempted to save the animals from the blaze.
Just hours after the news spread a donation page was set up and in the space of 60 minutes the first target of £1,000 surpassed.
Kind donors have so far raised more than £13,000 to help the centre. Hundreds of people have come forward offering to donate items which may assist owners.
When awful things happen in our towns and villages the community comes together to support and help each other.
This week we saw how our neighbours, friends and even strangers will offer us help when we are most in need.
