FORMER Maldon school kids are planning a huge school reunion for pupils who want to school in the sixties.

A group of former students of Maldon Secondary School – now Plume Academy – in 1967 are trying to track down the last few members of their old year group to invite them to a reunion in 2018.

Keith Ruffle and Christopher Dunn have been attempting to trace their last few classmates, with 70 people already lined up to attend.

Christopher said: “This is something we’ve been planning for a long time, this year marks 50 years since we started as a year group at Maldon Secondary School.

“We’ve done well to get this far and trace so many people, but we really want to get the whole group together who are still with us.”

Keith said: “We started at Maldon Secondary School in September 1967, and when it changed to Plume in 1970 we were based at what had until then been Maldon Grammar School.

“At this time we still had some lessons at Mill Road so had to walk from one to the other which was not ideal.

“Some teachers at that time were Mr Garlick with his famous board rubber, Mr Gregg the maths teacher, Mrs Cook for music and Mr Moss for P E. Not forgetting Miss Jenkins and Miss Moody who sadly passed away recently aged 94.

“Some of the names we are having trouble finding are girls for who we only have maiden names are, Yvonne Hart, Deborah Turner, Lorraine Horsfall and Victoria Byland to name a few.”

The group are appealing for anyone from their year to get in touch if they have not already, and any information on how to get in contact with them.

Keith added: “It would be nice if we could find a few of the ones missing. The reunion date has not been finalised yet but will be somewhere between late March and early June.”
