A YOUTH rugby team in Maldon have raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Research with a pop up coffee morning.
Maldon Rugby Club’s under 12’s side, along with their parents, held the coffee morning during their match against Brentwood last Sunday.
Cakes were baked the night before to sell during the game, and the event managed to raise £382.05 for the charity.
The event was supported by donations from families, coaches and Maldon Mini/Midi Management Committee.
The amount raised has been topped up by gift aid, bringing the total amount raised to £478.05.
A club spokesman said: “Special thanks go out to all those who contributed on the day, either by donations or baking their delicious cakes and also to RJPRINTERS in Maldon for making a Macmillan Coffee Morning banner at such short notice.
“Maldon U12’s Rugby Team are proud supporters of such a worthy cause.”
