A DETERMINED fundraiser who is walking 9,500 miles around Britain’s coastline made a stop in Burnham last week.

Three years ago, Alex Ellis-Roswell set off from his family home in Kent to walk the huge distance around the British and Irish coastline in memory of his later father.

The 24-year-old is now on his final 500 mile leg of his trip, arriving in Burnham last week for a visit of the town’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

The Burnham station is number eight in Alex’s countdown, he left the town on Sunday to head off to his next stop in Southend.

His father Sir Raymond Ellis sadly died in Christmas 2013. His passing set Alex off on the journey of a lifetime, as before ill health, his father had spent much of his life dedicated to charity work and fundraising, which spurred Alex on.

He has so far raised more than £60,000 on his walk for the RNLI, with his final aim being £95,000.

A spokesman for Burnham RNLI said: “Alex pitched in like a trooper at our local carnival - the Adventures of Alex: Burnham edition will follow.

“Farewell to a fabulous fundraiser.”
