MALDON’S popular town regatta enjoyed another successful year as hundreds of people flocked to Hythe Quay to watch sailors race to the finish.
The annual event saw traditional and modern yachts race from West Mersea to Osea.
From there, a second race took place as sailors fought to be the first competitor to arrive on the quay at high water on Saturday afternoon.
Running alongside the races were a number of shoreside events such as the family rubber duck race, a crabbing competition and the returning boat jumble.
The day was rounded off in style as crowds danced the night away to live music in the evening.
Gerry Courtney, chairman of the Regatta Committee, said she was delighted with the turnout and another successful show.
She said: “It went very well. There was some really good sailing and they made it all safely which is always a great relief.”
