A CHARITY sailing tour around the coast of Britain is returning to North Fambridge as it completes its second journey.

The Round Britain for Macmillan sail is due to arrive home in North Fambridge on Saturday.

The event is the brainchild of North Fambridge sailing instructor, Colin Stracey, who first came up with the idea last year.

During their first expedition in 2016, the voyagers managed to raise £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Research, a charity close to Colin’s heart after he witnessed first-hand the good work they do following the diagnosis given to his son, James.

This year the crew set the target at £10,000 as they sailed from North Fambridge to Newcastle, around Scotland, down to Bristol, onto Cornwall, and then returned to North Fambridge, during a two month long voyage.

The crew are set to arrive back in North Fambridge on Saturday, where a welcome home event will be thrown.

A barbecue will be held at 2pm on Saturday at Fambridge Yacht Haven, in Church Road, North Fambridge.
