RESIDENTS have been asked to be ‘patient and understanding’ while police and a council work to move on a group of travellers who pitched up in a public park.

Around 30 caravans arrived at Elms Farm Park in Heybridge overnight on Monday.

Police and Maldon District Council said they were working together to end the trespass.

A statement on Essex Police’s Chelmsford and Maldon Facebook page said: “Numerous residents have made contact with Essex Police and Maldon District Council expressing concerns around an unauthorised encampment at Elms Farm Park in Heybridge.

“We would like to reassure residents that we are working in partnership to resolve any issues raised and ask for your patience and understanding whilst established legal processes are put in place to end the trespass. Thank you in advance.”
