A MAN has been arrested and another is in hospital after a knife attack.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 4am today, who reported a man had been found with a head wound in Spital Road, Maldon.

Officers descended on the road and found a man in his 30s who is believed to have been slashed to the head with a knife.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A short time later, a 27 year-old man was arrested in St Giles Crescent on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been taken to Chelmsford police station where he remains in custody.
