VOLUNTEERS helped out with a charity over the weekend to help members of the public with their blood pressure.

Members of the Maldon Rotary Club and the local crew from the Stroke Association charity were on hand to help members of the public over the weekend in the town and across the district.

People were aided in having their blood pressure checked as part of Stroke Awareness' Know Your Blood Pressure Day, which helps people to understand the link between high blood pressure and stroke, other risk factors and what they can do to reduce their risk of having a stroke.

Most of those checked in Maldon on Saturday April 22 were cleared, though some were advised to consult their GP. The campaign has been set up as 80 per cent of strokes are preventable, thus to raise awareness of how it can be avoided.
