CHILDREN enjoyed a gardening activities session organised by the team at Maldon in Bloom.

The activities sessions took place at Maldon’s Town Hall during the National Gardening Week which ran from April 10 to 16.

The event was hailed a huge success with children of all ages coming along to paint a design on a terracotta pot and plant various seeds.

While their pots were drying, the children had an opportunity to find out more about bats, bees and butterflies by completing some of the worksheets available.

On the craft table, there was a variety of materials to design a garden which would attract bats, bees and butterflies as well as making flying models of those animals.

Dorreen Linton, Chairman of Maldon in Bloom said: “Thanks must go to the volunteers who came along to help as well as Claremont Nursery and the OAKhouse for donating materials.

“Our Maldon in Bloom Entry Form for 2017 is now available online, from Maldon Tourist Information Centre or the Town Council Offices.

“Please enter as there are new categories giving every Maldon resident a chance to join in this local competition.”
