A MUM is upset after binmen left behind bags filled with used nappies.

Natasha Hoffman’s baby has bowel problems, meaning the household produces more waste.

As a result Natasha, of Rowan Drive, Heybridge, is sometimes unable to close her bin lid, causing bin men to leave the waste.

Natasha said: “What am I supposed to do? They do not give any leeway, even with our circumstances. We are not creating extra rubbish. We do all our recycling and sort it all out. Our bins are overflowing because that is what is produced. We can’t help that.

“We pay our council tax, they should collect our rubbish “It is only going to get worse as we move into summer as well. If we have issues like this then, they will start attracting maggots and worse.”

Natasha was offered two smaller bins by Maldon District Council, leaving her with 50 per cent more space for waste, which she accepted.

Richard Holmes, director for community services said: “The council was made aware of this family’s extenuating circumstances and the effect this was having on their domestic waste collections.

“We are pleased we have been able to work with them to find a solution and thank them for bringing their situation to our attention.”
