A DRIVER has been rushed to hospital following a high speed crash.

Two vehicles collided head on, on Lower Burnham Road this morning at around 7am.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene of the high speed collision where they treated one of the drivers who has since been taken to Broomfield.

The other driver was reported to police for careless driving.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received the call at 7.05am this morning to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision.

“It was a high speed collision on Lower Burnham Road near Latchingdon.

“We dispatched an ambulance crew and treated one patient, the driver of one of the vehicles. They were conscious and breathing and complaining of arm and hand injuries.

“They were taken to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment.”

A spokesman for Essex Police added: "Police were called to reports of an RTC in Lower Burnham Road, Latchingdon at around 6.45pm today (Friday, February 17).

"Officers attended and found a silver Kia Sportage and a white Ford Transit van which had been in collision. One driver was reported for careless driving. The other suffered arm injuries.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Essex Police on 101."
