  • A STEAM boat trust is putting on a quiz.

The Steam Tug Brent Trust will host the quiz night at Maldon Town Hall on Market Hill, Maldon, today from 7.30pm.

It will include a display of the Brent’s history, a raffle and a bar.

The £10 admission fee includes a fish or chicken and chips supper.

  • A SWASHBUCKLING pirate-themed workshop is coming to Heybridge.

Parents and children can enjoy the fun activities centred around pirates and the sea at the Plantation Hall in Colchester Road, Heybridge, today.

It takes place from 10am to midday and is suitable for six to ten-year-olds.

Youngsters will be able to make a pirate flag, walk the plank and search for hidden treasure.

  • A MALAYSIAN curry night will be held in Maldon.

The Limes Guest House, on Market Hill, is putting on the traditional curry night today.

A £10 per head deposit is required before the night.

People are also asked to bring their own drinks.

  • A BOOK sale will take place in aid of the repair of a church.

The event will take place at St Andrews Church Hall in Althorne on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

People will be able to peruse the books and enjoy cake, toasties and tea and coffee.

The sale is taking place in aid of the St Andrews Church repair fund.

  • A GARDENING club is holding a quiz night.

Tollesbury Gardening Club will host the quiz at the Parish Rooms in Church Street, Tollesbury, on Monday from 7.30pm.

The questions will all be different themes about gardening. Non-members are invited to attend but will be asked to pay £3.

There will be tea and coffee as well as a raffle
