MALDON and Dengie start-ups have been named as finalists in a competition to win £25,000-worth of business support.

The ONE competition helps businesses across Essex who have been set up in the last five years.

Working for Wellbeing Ltd in Burnham, Secret Hamper in Maldon and Core-CR have all been named as finalists.

They are now in the running to win a prized package including PR and design consultancy, online marketing and accountancy advice, a year-long telephone reception service as well as leadership and management coaching.

Working for Wellbeing Ltd was founded in October 2012 by Francis Mcginty and Jerry Thornton offers help to organisations to increase their profitability.

Francis and Jerry said: “Winning this competition would give us incredible access to expertise in all the areas of business that Working for Wellbeing is not expert in, allowing us to take our products to a wider audience.”

Secret Hamper was founded by Nigel Richardson and Paul Bamby and allows people to send a hamper of essentials to family and friends.

Nigel said: “Being a finalist in this fantastic competition is an amazing achievement for us. We feel we have come a long way since our launch in June 2016, this recognition shows that we are on the right track.”

Sue Cook developed Core-CR as an exercise programme that directly impacts the brain stem and brain.

She said: “We want to give people their life back and help them maintain their mobility.

“This is now critical with an ageing population and the support would facilitate the accessibility of Core-CR and create further publicity and endorsement for this affordable cutting edge product.”

The judging of the seven finalists of The One competition will take place on Monday 20 February at Layer Marney Tower.
