RESIDENTS are being reminded of a number of NHS Services that can help with urgent care during the winter months.
Dr Caroline Dollery, chairman of Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “Many people think they need to visit a GP or hospital with minor illnesses and injuries, but they are often better treated more quickly elsewhere, or at home using simple remedies.”
The CCG recommends using a community pharmacy, which can offer confidential expert advice on a range of common illnesses without having to wait for a GP appointment.
You can also ring NHS 111, which is a 24/7 free phone service offering advice on symptoms.
Visiting your GP can also help you avoid a trip to hospital by dealing with illness early.
