A FLOOD alert remains in place for the Blackwater Estuary.

The alert was first issued for the Essex coast yesterday with forecast high water expected at 11pm.

As of 2pm today the flood alert remains in place.

The Government’s flood information service website said: “We are continuing to experience high tides due to the combination of spring tides and a tidal surges.”

It affects the coast from St Peters Flat to Clacton including the Blackwater Estuaries and the River Colne.

A second flood alert issued for St Peters Flat to Shoeburyness including the Crouch and Roach Estuaries is no longer in force.
