MALDON Road is closed near Danbury following a three vehicle accident.

The incident took place on the A414, near the junction with Butts Lane, Danbury.

The road has been closed by Essex Police, who are advising people to avoid the area.

The Fire Service were also present, sending a fire crew from Maldon, and one from Great Baddow to help free a driver trapped in their car.

A spokesman said: "The fire services was called to a road traffic collision on Maldon Road, Danbury.

"Crews worked with paramedics to release one person who was trapped in thier vehicle.

"The casualty was released by 11.45am and left in the care of the Ambulance Service."

The East of England Ambulance Service atended the accident and treated one patient.

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic collision on Maldon Road in Danbury at 10.49am.

"Two ambulances attended the scene and treated a lady in her 20's.

"She has been taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
