A FAMILY is embarking on a fundraising affair – with a mum and daughter shaving their heads and a second daughter taking on a fun run.

Biba Murray, 42, and her daughter Daisy, 11, will have their hair shaved off to raise money for the North Essex Partnership mental health NHS trust.

The trust had helped care for a family friend last year.

Daisy came up with the fundraising idea after deciding she wanted to help support the trust.

Her sister Amy, seven, will help raise additional funds by taking on a charity run on the same day.

Daisy’s hair reaches all the way down her back while mum Biba is set to lose 16 inches of hair.

Biba, of Althorne, said: “About three weeks before Christmas she said she wanted to help raise some money for the trust that tried to help him.

“She said she thought she might have her hair cut off.

“I said if you are going to do it I will do it as well.

“I decided I was going to go the whole hog and have my hair shaved off.

“Daisy said if it was going to raise more money then she would have her head shaved,”

she added.

The duo will brave the head shave on Saturday, January 21 at the Victoria pub in Belvedere Road in Burnham.

Earlier in the day Amy will run around the Burnham Rugby Club pitch at Millfields to raise more money.

To prepare for the head shave Daisy, who attends St Mary’s Primary School in Burnham, asked for some useful bobble hats as gifts on her Christmas list.

Her hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which creates wigs for youngsters who lose their hair due to cancer treatment.

Biba said: “We were amazed at the thought behind it all and she has said she is looking forward to doing it and raising money.”

The family are due to set up a fundraising page at www.justgiving.com.
