STUDENTS at Plume Academy are overjoyed at their GCSE results after receiving them on Thursday.

The Academy's results broke records for the school, with 63 per cent of students achieving A*-C grades in English and Maths. 27 students also gained over eight A*s in total.

The Standard was at the school on Thursday to speak to students after they opened their results.

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Poppy Brown, of Washington Drive, achieved two A*s six As and two Bs, and will be staying at Plume to study A-levels in Geography, ICT, Business and an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). She said: “I’m so proud of them all and really happy its now over. I’m looking to pursue an apprenticeship after Sixth Form to get into a good IT job.”

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Chris Johns, of Mariners Way, bagged two A*s, six As and one B, and will staying at Plume Sixth Form to study Physics and Math. He said: “I’m really pleased with most of them, such a big relief, and I’m looking forward to starting Sixth Form.”

Ruth Thornton, of Victoria Road, achieved a whopping nine A*s and two As including Spanish and Religious Education. She’s remaining at Plume to do French, History, Art and Spanish A-levels and hopes to go to university. She said: “I’m so glad it’s over and I’m just over the moon with these results, I really couldn’t have asked for any better!”

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Ashlea Lacey opened up her results to five A*s, five As and one B, including Physics, Maths, Spanish and French. She will be leaving Plume to head to Colchester Sixth Form to do international baccalaureate, which involves taking on six different subjects at Higher and Standard levels. She will be doing Business, Chemistry, English Language, Literature, Maths and Psychology. She said: “I’m so exstatic about my results and I’m really looking forward to heading to Colchester and beginning my baccalaureate.”

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Peter Howlett achieved seven A*s, three As and one B including Maths, all three sciences, PE and Spanish. He’s off to King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford to study Physics, Geography and Economics and hopes to go to university. He said: “Very pleased with the outcome, I hadn’t really thought about it too much in the lead up but I’m glad they came out the way they did. I’m really hoping I get accepted to Kings, just got a few more days to wait to hear the result of my application.”

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Miles Harrison, of West Maldon, achieved five As and four Bs including English, RE and Additional Science. He’ll be headed to Colchester Sixth Form to study Politics, Economics, Geography and English Literature. He said: “Really pleased with the results, a few things I could have done better in but I’m glad the wait is over. Looking forward to starting at Colchester, it’ll be a good change of scenery and allow me to meet a lot more people.”

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Tom Amner, of Queens Street, was overwhelmed with his nine A*s and four As. He will be studying Maths, Physics and History at Colchester Royal Grammar School. He said: “Couldn’t be happier with my grades, a lot of work went into them and I’m glad they’ve paid off. Moving to a new school in Colchester will be good for me, a chance to get out and about a bit more.”
