ORMISTON Rivers Academy is today celebrating its best ever GCSE results.

In total 70 per cent of students achieved both English and maths in the new government “basics” measure.

Students achieving five or more GCSEs at A*-C grades including English and Maths was also at 70 per cent – an increase of 16 per cent on last year.

In total 20 per cent of pupils achieved A* and A qualifications.

There have been significant improvements at A* to C in several individual subjects, including maths and science, and the percentage of students achieving the EBacc has seen an eight per cent increase on last year.

Principal, Joan Costello, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our GCSE results, which have seen substantial improvement this year, and are the Academy’s best ever results.

“Our hard-working students thoroughly deserve their significant successes, and we look forward to continuing to work with many of them again next year in Rivers Sixth Form.

“I would also like to thank our staff and parents for their hard work and commitment, which are so important to the students’ successes.”
