WINNERS of the Burnham in Bloom awards were presented with their prizes at an awards ceremony.

A presentation evening took place in Burnham on Friday night.

Judges described the standard of entries as “extremely high” and praised those for taking part.

There were 13 winners on the night, these included best community project, best community pride volunteer, best kept allotment, best bee friendly garden, best planted container, best hanging basket, best school garden, best public house floral display, best social/sports/yacht club, best back garden and best front garden.

At the awards Town Mayor, Ron Pratt said: "The standard of entries was extremely high, judging was a very difficult task and my thanks to Cristina Franchini and Ivor Boyer for helping me choose the winners.

“It is not only the individuals that win the whole town does, just because people care"

This year the various awards were sponsored by Jolly Fryer, Quayside Café, Queen’s Head Pub, Victoria Arms Pub, Rio Cinema, Burnham and Dengie Review, The Limes, Trackside, Burnham Town Council, Williams Family Photography, Woodford’s Garage and Weelba Heating Engineers.

> Best Public House Floral Display: The Ship Inn

> Best School Garden: Ormiston Rivers Academy

> Best Hanging Basket: Mrs Colquitt, houseboat Tangaroa

> Best Planted Container: Carole Noble, Park Road

> Best Bee Friendly Garden: John Green, Fernlea Road
