MALDON DISTRICT COUNCIL have won a national award at the Planning and Placemaking Awards in London.

The Council’s Development Management Team, responsible for dealing with planning issues, won the top award for Development Management and were ‘highly commended’ for Enforcement.

The awards were held at London’s Savoy Place on June 23.

Nick Fenwick, a Director at Maldon District Council’s Planning & Regulatory Services, said: “I am so proud of the Development Management Team.

“They have stepped up to deal with an increasing workload and also involvement with a high number of planning appeals recently.”

Maldon Distict councillor, Penny Channer, Chairman of the Planning & Licensing Committee, said: “My sincere thanks and congratulations go to our Development Management and Enforcement Teams.

“Naturally they are proud of their acheivements and I was proud last night to be with them and take part in the celebrations.

“It was wonderful to see Maldon District Council recognised.”
