A REVAMPED restaurant has opened in Burnham, aiming to bring a ‘different’ dining experience to the town.

The restaurant has operated on Burnham’s Quay for several years, and was bought in January this year by Terri Medcalf, 61, of Burnham High Street.

It was officially opened on Thursday June 9 by British Power Boat Sailor Alan Piddy.

Terri has always viewed Burnham as a pleasant place to live, and wanted to introduce a new style of dining to the town compared to similar pub food options.

The restaurant serves breakfasts, lunches and dinners, with meals ranging from Spanish salads to fine Indian curries.

She said: “We’ve spent three months revamping the Quayside to make it look a lot lighter and welcoming on the inside, as it was in a very poor state.

“We’ve had some great feedback from people about the interior, we’ve done as much as we could to transform the kitchens and dining area.”

“We want to be able to offer a chilled out environment to residents with nice surroundings, with a special experience with high quality food that’s not overly expensive.

“Burnham has a few lovely restaurants but the main food scene tends to be from pubs.

“There’s nothing wrong with the pub scene here or the pub food, but some people I speak to say they are tired of similar meals.”

To mark their opening, Quayside held an evening of live music on Friday June 17 to showcase their new menu and improved atmosphere.

Terri added: “The evening was an outstanding success. Our vocalist Julia was brilliant with an extensive playlist from mood to swing. She performed brilliantly and the restaurant just wrapped itself around her mood.

“For me to see the Restaurant full was my proudest moment, the atmosphere and ambience was excellent it was just the perfect evening. All hard work since January had paid off.”

The restaurant is open from 9am – 5pm Tuesday to Sunday for daytime meals, and from 7pm – 11pm from Wednesday to Saturday for evening dinners.
