WET weather didn’t stop fundraisers at a charity cream tea event raising more than a £1,000 for the Essex Air Ambulance.

Diana Rogers held the event in Maldon where people were able to enjoy homemade scones with Tiptree jam and clotted cream.

The event helped to raise £1,040 for the charity.

Diana thanked everyone for their generosity and support, particularly her team of helpers who worked tirelessly to make the event possible.

She said: “Thanks also go to Maldon mayor Ritchie Miller, deputy mayor Jeanette Stilts and Mark Durham deputy leader of Maldon District Council who all gave their support to make it a successful event.

“An evening barbecue with live entertainment held after the cream teas finished was incredibly well supported despite the weather and raised a further £427 for the Maldon stroke group.”
