THE magical world of Harry Potter was brought to life for young readers.

Southminster Library held a Harry Potter Book Night on Thursday where youngsters got to learn about Hogwarts, potions and spells.

The nationwide event organised by Bloomsbury Publishing aims to celebrate the seven novels by J.K.Rowling and their subsequent films.

Readers of all ages took part in themed activities with quizzes, potions corner and a Diagon Alley hunt.

Prospective Hogwarts pupils also got to sit under the sorting hat and find out if they were a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin or Ravenclaw.

Maldon Library and South Woodham Ferrers Library also held events.

Harry Potter Book Night began in 2015 where 10,500 parties and celebrations were held all over the world.
