A town mayor has revealed her chosen charity this week.
The South Woodham Ferrers town mayor has chosen to support the fundraising efforts of a mental health charity in south east and central Essex.
Councillor Christine Weir-Ewing, who returned as mayor for a further year in 2015, has unveiled plans to help raise cash for Mind, during her next year in the position.
The announcement came after the charity recently opened its flagship Jubilee Centre in Southend-on-Sea.
The hub, which is open five days a week, offers an 'initial enquiry service' alongside a walk-in.
Based in Southchurch Road, it offers help with anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, addiction and OCD while concentrating further efforts on youth counselling.
Funds raised will be used to help ensure the best possible support is offered to sufferers, their families and carers dealing with mental health issues.
