MORE than 130 teams battled it out in the opening weekend of racing at Burnham Week.
Although the winds were light throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, racing was intense with results going right down to the wire in many classes during the competition, which kicked off on Saturday.
Regardless of Monday’s downpour, plenty of residents refused to let the rain dampen spirits during the on-shore activities during Quay Day.
Event organiser Paula Stanbury said: “Even when there was terrible rain it was lovely to see residents brave their umbrellas and come out regardless.
“Families and their children enjoyed face painting, Punch and Judy and free rides.”
The town cup will be presented this Saturday, followed by a firework display at dusk which can be viewed from anywhere on the quay. Visit burnhamweek.com
