A group fighting proposals to relocate a football club in their road held a fun day to raise money to finance their fight.

The Goldhanger Road Group is fighting plans to move the Heybridge Swifts Football Club from Scraley Road to Goldhanger Road and will hire a planning consultant to further their case.

The move will see the club enlarging its clubhouse and building three football pitches, which residents say is unsuitable and will ruin surrounding businesses.

Spokesman for the group, Patrick Forsyth, said: "It was a successful and fun event but we should not forget why it was held."
