Police and ambulance crews were called to Tesco car park in Burnham this morning.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We received a call at 9.46am today to Station Road, Burnham-on-Crouch, to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a lorry.

"An ambulance crew and rapid response vehicle attended to a woman, believed to be in her 70s."

Police were contacted at 9.55am.

A police spokesman said: "The woman pedestrian was taken to hospital with a cut to her head and injuries to her hands.

"Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening."

Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to contact Pc Fiona Rayner at Chelmsford road policing unit on 101.

Ambulance crews had left the scene by 11.30am.

The woman was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, for further care.
