A vintage flower show, one of the largest in the Dengie, thrived during its 130 year Anniversary.

The Southminster Flower Show attracted around 1,200 visitors to the village’s King George V Memorial Field on Saturday July 18.

Competitions for handicrafts, floral art and horticulture were at the centre of festivities with a rich mix of family-friendly entertainment available throughout.

A companion dog show, vintage cars, country dancing, stalls and a rich array of flowers, fruit and vegetables were on display.

Fancy dress, a play area, Punch and Judy and pony rides entertained the children.

Co-organiser and show committee member, Jane Cowell, said: “It’s quite an achievement to get to 130 years and I feel quite proud to be a part of it - long may it continue.”
