Salt firm bids farewell to devoted employee
A Maldon firm has said a fond farewell to a devoted employee of more than three decades.
Philip Barnes is retiring from the Maldon Salt Company after 33 years of hand drawing the salt pans at the Downs salt works in Maldon.
Over the years, Mr Barnes has contributed towards the growth of the company with just three pans when he started to 28 pans today, delivering pure white crunchy sea salt flakes to over 45 countries worldwide.
Since working for the iconic family run business, Mr Barnes has worked for two generations of the Osborne family, firstly Clive and currently Steve Osborne.
