A further election is to be held for Little Braxted Parish Council.

On May 7 there were no candidates nominated and therefore the parish council is currently unable to function.

A fresh notice of election will be published no later than Wednesday, May 20, inviting the submission of nominations by 4pm on Friday, May 29.

In the event that this election is contested a poll will be held on Thursday, June 25.

Normal arrangements for postal and proxy voting will apply.

If a sufficient number of candidates are nominated and elected without the need for a poll, the parish council will then be able to co-opt persons to fill any remaining vacancies.

A Maldon District Council spokesman said: "Should this further election not produce any or a sufficient number of candidates, the district council will need to consider the position and will be disposed to appoint persons to re-constitute the parish council."

A further election is being held to fill one seat on Purleigh Parish Council due to the recent death of an elected candidate.
