ADVENTURE Island, Southend Pier, Hadleigh Castle and Old Leigh are familiar landmarks to south Essex residents and visitors.
But here are some unfamiliar views of the familiar sights – taken above on a flight from Southend Airport.
Essex University, the “Lego building”, the Victoria Shopping Centre and the Queensway Estate are among the buildings clearly visible in Southend town centre.
Our reporter David Trayner also photographed Burnham and Essex Marina, glistening in the sunshine, on the flying lesson with the Flight Centre.
