From this week traffic police around Europe will target speeding motorists.

The European Traffic Police Network, TISPOL, work across Europe to reduce death, serious injury and crime on roads.

Officers from Essex Police's Casualty Reduction Section will be carrying out operations every day this week, across the county, including Maldon, Tiptree, Colchester and Coggeshall, as part of the crackdown.

Enforcement action will be carried out on motorists speeding in areas where fatal or serious-injury collisions have happened, or where the community has raised speeding concerns.

Manager of Essex Police's Casualty Reduction Section, Adam Pipe, said: "Speeding costs lives there is absolutely no doubt of that.

"Road safety remains a priority for Essex Police and their partners within the Safer Essex Roads Partnership.

"However it is great to join forces with our police colleagues across Europe to not only target those breaking the law but to raise awareness amongst motorists."
