A series of shed burglaries has led to police warning residents about security after more than £6,000 worth of belongings were stolen.

Overnight between 19-23 March, in Plains Road, Great Totham, £350 worth of tools, including a lawn mower was stolen from a shed.

Between last Monday and last Thursday, in Birch Rise, Wickham Bishops, nearly £2,000 worth of valuable items were taken for a shed.

A hybrid ladies bike, valued at £300, a Chris Wardman racing bike, worth £600, and £1,000 worth of golfing equipment were stolen.

Overnight between Friday and Saturday, £760 worth of gardening equipment was taken from a shed, in Brabant Road, North Fambridge.

The theft included a £600 hedge trimmer and £160 worth of miscellaneous tools.

A bike worth £10 was stolen from a shed in Southminster Road, Burnham, between Friday and Saturday.

Police say the thieves have consistently targeted the sheds and it could be a small group of people involved.

They advise residents should consider contacting the council to purchase shed alarms to deter intruders or contacting local PCSOs for advice.
