A "tyreless" charity fundraiser is trying to raise money to get her iconic van back on the road.

Lyz Le Fay, 48, who organises events for The Stroke Association and the Sesaw Animal Shelter, among other charities, is raising money for her brightly decorated van "Hecate".

Hecate, named after the Greek goddess of witchcraft and instantly recognisable, has been off the road for a fortnight after the van's timing belt broke.

Lyz of Mill Road, Maldon, said: "I was in absolute pieces when she broke down."

Lyz's work as a dog walker and animal carer means she relies on transport for a living.

She is holding a fundraising car wash in the Millbeach put car park, Goldhanger Road, Heybridge, on March 14 from 10am to 4pm.

She also has an online "fundraz" page, visit: fundrazr.com/uk and search "Save Hecate".
