Police are warning residents not to let strangers into their homes after a woman had her jewellery stolen.
On Monday evening at 7pm, a man entered the house in Goldhanger and was confronted by the female occupant.
The suspect said he was from the water board and took the victim to the kitchen to check the water, while a second suspect searched the rest of the house, stealing jewellery.
The suspect who was seen, is described as white, in his late 20s, 5ft 7ins, stocky and with dark hair.
Staff from reputable companies will present their ID and will wait while checks are made with their company.
Suspicious people should be reported to the police, especially if they enter through back gardens.
