A series of heritage talks have attracted record numbers of listeners.

The last in the popular series of Heritage Winter Talks, organised by the conservation team at Maldon District Council, will be held on Tuesday, March 3.

The talk is by the Beeleigh Mill Restoration Group, entitled Beeleigh Mill and its Steam Engine - its past, present and future.

The previous talk held on February 3 by Robert Long and mayor Stephen Nunn on Maldon’s place in English History drew record crowds and was the best attended talk in the series so far.

District councillor Mr Long said: “I am a great supporter of the Heritage Winter Talks and I was delighted with how well attended this talk was and how much everyone enjoyed listening to Stephen and myself as we took people on our historical journey.

“We are both keen historians and are passionate about our local history so it was wonderful to share our talk with so many people”.

The last talk will take place at the Friends Meeting House, Butt Lane, Maldon.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
