Outline plans for nearly 400 homes in Burnham and Southminster are to be decided upon tonight (Jan 22).

Maldon District Council will be holding an extraordinary meeting during which two proposals for Southminster and one for Burnham will be considered.

L A Sibley Ltd’s three hectare site is at Theedhams Farm, Steeple Road, Southminster.

As phase one of a four part masterplan, the developer wants to create a new northern bypass and convert Steeple Road into a cul-de-sac with a housing development of 94 homes, including 28 affordable homes.

Gladman Developments is also seeking outline permission for a development of up to 220 homes with areas for use by the community and a medical centre.

The site in question is south of New Moor Farm and east of North End, Southminster.

In Burnham, Gladman Developments is looking to build 80 new homes with associated site access, highways and open space, plus provision for a local shop.

As well as the housing plans, councillors will also be deciding whether to give permission for a solar farm on land east of Burnham Wick Farm in Wick Road.
