Wickham Bishops parish council were granted funds to make the village air raid shelter into something the community can be proud of, with a £5,000 grant
The Community Initiatives Fund has pledged more than £80,000 of funding to local organisations.
The fund is a small grants scheme, organised by Essex County Council and designed to fund community projects.
The projects funded create or develop new assets, enhance existing assets or develop initiatives to strengthen communities.
The fund has pledged £83,272 to eight projects in the Maldon District.
