Maldon police have issued a warning over bogus cold callers.
PC Mick Carrington, of Maldon police, said: “Maldon district residents continue to be victims of fraud attempts whereby criminals target the elderly and vulnerable members of society by cold calling in person and by telephone.
“The public should be alert for this kind of crime especially at this time of year.
“Police urge members of the public to be cautious when receiving calls from persons pertaining to be your bank asking you to move money from your bank or savings account to other accounts because your card or account has been compromised.
“Banks will never ask you to do this.”
If in doubt either visit your branch or call a trusted friend for their advice.
Do not share your PIN numbers with the caller.
