A weekend of gang violence in Maldon saw one man attacked with iron bars, another sprayed in the face with a “noxious” liquid and a third victim assaulted and bundled into a car.
Police are linking the three incidents, which have left Maldon residents shocked, frightened and disgusted.
On Saturday, a 19-year-old man was squirted in the face with an ammonia-based substance in the High Street at about 1.25pm.
At 6.30pm the same day, a man was assaulted in the High Street by at least 10 others who are believed to have been using iron bars.
Then on Sunday, the violence continued as a man was assaulted in Fambridge Road at about 6.30pm.
Two men hit him in the stomach, grabbed him round the neck and bundled him into a silver Mercedes before driving him away.
