A new fleet of ambulances is being rolled out across the region and Maldon is in line to receive an update for it’s ‘ageing’ vehicle.

By 2015, all ambulances which are part of the East of England Ambulance Service will be five years old or less.

Maldon’s current ambulance arrived in 2009 and South Woodham Ferrers dates from 2010.

There are 120 new ambulances scheduled across the area, added to 147 new vehicles brought into service earlier in the year.

Head of Operations Paul Henry said: “I am delighted the fleet modernisation programme continues at pace and that the next phase is now well underway.

“These new vehicles will make our ambulance fleet one of the newest and best quality in the country.”

Maldon will receive a new vehicle in March, with South Woodham Ferrers due in February.
