Police arrested two men in connection with thefts from cars after they were seen acting suspiciously.

The two men, one adult and one juvenile, were arrested after being observed by members of public acting suspiciously in the early hours of September 7.

The men were arrested on suspicion of numerous thefts from motor vehicles and were bailed until September 28.

Sergeant Paul Austin, of Maldon Police Station, said: “These arrests come as a direct result of calls from members of the public about suspicious activity.

“I would urge anyone to continue to call in any activity they deem suspicious.

“A number of these thefts occurred from insecure vehicles and I would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to check their vehicle is secure, particularly overnight.”
