A popular park and ride facility has been boosted by an additional 300 spaces.

Shoppers and commuters will have even more space to park thanks to the new bays at Chelmer Valley park and ride.

The expansion brings the total number of parking spaces to 1,000 at the site on the A130 Essex Regiment Way in Chelmsford.

Essex County Councillor Rodney Bass, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “High levels of demand for the park and ride service made expansion plans essential.

"More than 1,000,000 return journeys to Chelmsford have now been made since it opened in March 2011 - reducing congestion and bringing more visitors to the city.”

Work on the expansion started on June 9 and finished on time on September 12.
