Councillors met with medical representatives to grill them over the future of the ‘untenable’ St Peter’s Hospital and the proposed closure of a walk in centre.
The Overview and Scrutiny committee meeting was held at Maldon District Council offices.
Representatives from Mid Essex Hospitals Trust, Mid Essex CCG and Provide were quizzed by councillors over the district’s healthcare plans.
They raised concerns that closing the walk-in centre at Sainsburys, Springfield and moving the services to Broomfield Hospital would be detrimental to Maldon residents.
Councillor Mark Durham said the idea of shutting the Sainsburys walk-in centre came as a ‘big shock’.
