An inaugural music event to raise vital funds for a brain injured teenager has proven to be very popular.

The SamStock festival, organised to raise money for Sam Richards who sustained a serious brain injury after falling in a play area in 2012, was attended by more than 1,500 people.

The festival, held yesterday at the Museum of Power, Langford, was headlined by Toploader, with other artists including Scarlett’s Roses, Next of Kin and Vince Freeman from The Voice, and a range of entertainers including stilt walkers, free runners and dance troops.

Co-organiser Sue Wyllie said: “It was a fantastic day.

“Everyone had a great time and the bands were excellent. All the organisers got on stage with Toploader and sang along to Dancing in the Moonlight which was incredible.

“There were a lot of families and there was a great atmosphere.

“We are looking forward to holding it next year.”
