Young adult carers in Maldon could get a second ‘pukka’ opportunity to cook at Jamie Oliver’s famous ‘Fifteen’ restaurant in London.

Action for Family Carers in Maldon arranged a trip to Fifteen last August and have been exploring the possibility of a second cooking session.

As well as cooking with the carers, the apprentices spent some time talking about their own experiences.

Georgina Richardson, Action for Family Carers Young Adult Carer Transition Worker, said: “Some had had similar lives, some worse.

“They spoke about how they had become part of the Jamie Oliver programme and what they had gained with their qualifications.

“It was massively inspiring and a great confidence booster, a couple of the young adult carers even came back and signed up for catering college.”
