A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after he was in collision with a car.

The 44-year-old man from Mayland was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge following the collision with a silver Ford KA in Green Lane, Althorne.

Essex Air Ambulance, paramedics, police and firefighters were called to the scene outside the Huntsman and Hounds pub at 1.41pm on Monday.

Firefighters helped ambulance crews look after the motorcyclist and cleared a fuel spill.

A man and a woman in their 80s from Burnham, who were in the KA, were treated at the scene for shock.

The road was closed until 5.54pm.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash involving the motorbike and car.

The force is appealing for witnesses to the crash or the events leading up to it.

The motorbike rider was wearing a white leather jacket with a red panel down the back and black leather trousers.
