Alex Jennings with his own cannon that he has restored
A TWO hundred year old cannon may be restored after a Burnham man expressed concerns over it’s state.
Alex Jennings, 82, of Fernlea Road, Burnham is calling for the iron cannon belonging to Burnham Town Council to be restored and reinstated nearer the waterfront.
He said: “I want the cannon to be set back in it’s old place at the Quayside by the sea wall."
Mr Jennings plans for restoring the cannon to the Quay are based on how he has secured his own cannon at his home.
Mr Jennings’ cannon are reinforced with steel, surrounded with cement and secured by ship’s anchor chains.
